TWELFTH
The phase when your emerging adult pulls away, gets closer, and does things for the last time. And you both start asking, “What’s next?”
What do they need?
- Developmentally
- They are asking: What will I do? They are motivated by freedom.
Respond by: Mobilizing their potential.
- They are asking: What will I do? They are motivated by freedom.
- Spiritually
- Fuel their passion so they will keep pursuing authentic faith and discover a personal mission.
How to lead at home
- Encourage them with spiritual insights (e.g. How a verse applies to their situation).
- Show grace, love, and forgiveness.
- Encourage going on a mission trip and other outreach opportunities.
- Coach them to prioritize consistent giving. We recommend Dave Ramsey resources, including his Financial Peace University.
How to partner with the church
- Encourage them to be an active leader in Student Ministries.
- Ask your student who they could invite to Student Ministry events and groups.
- Encourage your student to attend High School Camp!
- Next Transition—Soon your student will be graduating. Celebrate big and help them get connected with an Adult Group.
